Welcome to the GCPBA Waiting List archives. Stored here are copies of our publication, The Waiting List, which was published from 1997 until 2006. The publication evolved from a single sheet flier to a full content magazine and tells the story of the growth of the non-commercial effort to secure a balanced division of recreational river running access between commercial and non-commercial river communities to the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon. The most popular, whitewater, multi-day river trip in the United States.

You’ll also find articles and stories about all aspects of river running, including river tales, medical advice, political pros and cons, arguments over the virtues of pins and clips versus oar locks, food planing and more.

Regrettably GCPBA ceased publication of The Waiting List due to the heavy financial constraints imposed by legal action needed to successfully defend the current Colorado River Management Plan (CRMP 2006) and insure it’s implementation against a series of three lawsuits brought against the National Park Service.

The lawsuits were won and private boaters now enjoy double the number of river trip launches and user day totals equal to the commercial sector.

Virtually every edition of the magazine is available now, here, for the first time.
